MORAL VALUES OF THE SHORT STORY

 SINIGANG

By Marie Aubry Villaceran

Aubrey Villaceran's short story "Sinigang" emphasizes moral principles, especially forgiveness. It is difficult to forgive someone who has wronged you or has committed a sin against you. I understand that forgiveness is conditional on how a sin or error was committed. Maybe I'm the one who has to be forgiven. I'm not sure. Perhaps I've forgotten something.

Because, after all, we shouldn't remember the error, right? What we learned or what we took away from our mistakes. As a student in the twenty-first century, and as a person who has an impact on others, forgiveness is a decision, not an option.

It's heartbreaking when members of the same family refuse to communicate with one another. "There is no such thing as a perfect family. We argue, quarrel, and even cease talking to each other at times. But, at the end of the day, family is family." Love will always be there for you.
The things I gained from "Sinigang," a fantastic short story. It will teach every reader the value of having a firm foundation amongst family members, respecting, being strong, apologizing, and forgiving, especially to Filipino families who are going through the same problem as the narrative.
